The walk
From the square of Agios Georgios Nileias the kalderimi descends toward the coast, passing the Ano Gatzea railway station (with its 1903 bridge and taverna) and the nearby Olive Museum, ending at the beach and waterfront tavernas of Kato Gatzea.
Good to know
- Moderate, almost all descent, steep to reverse.
- Water and food at Ano Gatzea; some sections can be overgrown.
- You can return on the historic railway line toward Milies.
- Best September to May, avoiding peak summer heat.
