The classic loop from the door, and the one most guests do first. It packs a surprising amount of Pelion into under three hours.
The walk
Leaving Vizitsa, the route passes the Agios Ioannis Prodromos monastery and its old fountain, drops toward the Milies train station with its 1903 metal bridge, skirts the cliff chapel of Taxiarches, and, in spring, the Katafidi waterfall running with snowmelt, before climbing back to the village.
Good to know
- Moderate, a steady ~386 m of up and down; mostly kalderimi and dirt.
- One short, narrow rock section with exposure, skip if you dislike heights.
- Water in Vizitsa; little along the way.
- Best March to May (the waterfall flows) and again in autumn.
