A longer loop that ties Vizitsa to the famous little Moutzouris railway and the gorge below.

The walk

From the 1903 Milies station the route climbs old stone paths past the 18th-century chapels of Agios Ioannis Prodromos and Taxiarches, with views over the Miliotiko ravine and, after winter rain, the Katafidi waterfall, looping back through the village squares and their neoclassical fountains.

Good to know

  • Moderate, with one nearly-vertical narrow lane (~2 m), not for those uneasy with heights.
  • A roofed spring on the uphill stretch; food and water in Vizitsa.
  • Best autumn through spring, when the streams run and the exposed sections stay cool.
  • You can time it with a ride on the historic Pelion train from Milies.
