A green, shady walk down to the sea at the southern end of the peninsula, past an old monastery and through continuous plane-tree forest.

The walk

From Promyri the mule track passes the St Spyridon monastery and follows a stream-fed ravine, shaded almost the whole way, down to the beach and tavernas of Platanias.

Good to know

  • Trail status: flood damage near Promyri left a section difficult as of early 2025, with a bypass being worked on, check access locally before setting out.
  • Mostly downhill (~300 m); water at the Kanalakia and Randi fountains.
  • Best spring and autumn.
