One of the most rewarding short walks in Pelion, and almost all downhill. From the square of Tsagarada, beside its thousand-year-old plane tree, the path drops through forest and old stone lanes toward the sea.
The walk
The route leaves Agia Paraskevi square and descends past the Agnanti viewpoint, where the whole sweep of the Aegean opens up below. A wooden bridge crosses the Halorema stream before the path reaches Damouchari, the tiny stone harbour known from Mamma Mia!, and continues along the coast to Papa Nero, a long beach of golden sand and clear water.
Good to know
- Mostly descent (about 480 m down to sea level), easy underfoot but bring water; fountains exist at Agia Kyriaki and Vainas.
- Waymarked with red paint; signage is sparse in places.
- It’s a one-way walk, arrange a pick-up from Papa Nero, or continue on to Mouresi or Kissos.
- Best April to October.
A perfect half-day from a Pelion base: forest, a historic harbour, and a swim to finish.
