A more adventurous coastal walk than the Papa Nero route, quieter, greener, and a little rougher underfoot.
The walk
From Tsagarada the path descends to the secluded Fakistra bay, ringed by steep cliffs, passing the cave-chapel known as the Krifo Scholio (“secret school”), medieval castle ruins, and the chapels of Agios Georgios and Agios Nikolaos, before continuing to the harbour of Damouchari.
Good to know
- Moderate, descending ~500 m; some steep, occasionally overgrown sections near Fakistra, long trousers help.
- Waymarked with red paint and round signs; fountains near the chapels.
- One-way to the coast, arrange a return.
- Best April to October.
